"Sharing student voices, growing our community, and building a stronger Hartpury together."

GOAL: Creation of the first ever SU Strategy

SUMMARY: I’ll be working with the SU Manager and SU Team to create our first ever SU Strategy. This will outline our future direction and priorities.

TIMELINE: May 2026

GOAL: Increase Student Representation Numbers

SUMMARY:  Recruit more student representatives across all schools and liberation groups to strengthen the student voice. We are increasing FE student Reps by a large proportion this year, replicating our HE structure. I will encourage sign-ups by creating an engaging rep video (explaining the role and benefits of signing up) and speaking directly to tutor groups who don’t have a student rep. Aim: Achieve at least 65% rep coverage across courses and 70 sign-ups for the opinion hub.

TIMELINE: November 2025

GOAL: Transparent Information: A Well-Oiled Machine

SUMMARY:  Expand SU communication by growing Instagram and TikTok activity and launching a new YouTube channel (Hartpury_SU) for longer-form content. These platforms will provide accessible, engaging updates on SU projects, events, and opportunities.

TIMELINE:

  • Instagram/TikTok: Consistent posting from Sept 2025; monthly monitoring and termly reviews. Targets for 2025 already met!! New targets for June 2026: Instagram 3800 followers. TikTok: 2000 followers.

  • YouTube: Channel active by Nov 2025, with regular uploads until May 2026.

GOAL: Host student events to enhance student life

SUMMARY:  Create 3 new events during the year - social, cultural, academic, and/or wellbeing events that meet student interests both on and off campus. Ideas include: a new volunteer-only event and joint activities in Gloucester.

Wellbeing & Inclusivity Officer

Manifesto highlights

"Here to support every student's wellbeing and make Hartpury inclusive for everyone."

GOAL: Signposting students to relevant support services

SUMMARY: Create and share a clear, updated guide (digital and printed) of support services available to students, and hold 1:1 sessions 1 day per week in order to personally signpost students to the correct team or service, tracking outcomes through a simple log. I will also attend and support wellbeing and inclusivity events to signpost students to support services.

TIMELINE: December 2025

GOAL: Increase student awareness and capacity of wellbeing support services

SUMMARY: Work with the wellbeing team throughout the year to raise awareness of their services through promotion to students via social media, campus screens, in-person pop-up activity and the SU Newsletter. Advocate for increased wellbeing services at Hartpury to support the number of students seeking support and work with the Wellbeing team to signpost to external support groups and hotlines where capacity is limited. Provide channels for feedback and present this feedback to the team each semester. I will also lead the UMHC student submission to support Hartpury in understanding students’ experiences and perspectives of the wellbeing support available.

TIMELINE: March 2026

GOAL: Celebrate minority groups within the student community

SUMMARY: Organise at least three events or campaigns highlighting the achievements and challenges of minority groups and share via the Student Union website and/or social media to raise awareness and promote an inclusive culture. Sit on the EDI forum to represent students voices and oversee and support our Liberation Reps with their campaigns and projects.

Daniel Garton

Engagement Officer

Manifesto highlights

"My goal as Engagement Officer is to listen to what students really want, create inclusive events that represent every part of Hartpury, and grow our SU’s presence so every student feels connected, involved, and heard."

GOAL: Find out what students want from the SU

SUMMARY:  Conduct structured research (e.g. surveys, focus groups) and host events to identify student needs and expectations from the Students’ Union (SU). Aim to collect responses from at least 15% of the student body. Analyse results and publish a “Student Engagement Report” by  April 2026, with clear priorities that the SU will work on during the rest of the academic year and future years.

TIMELINE: March 2026

GOAL: Support planning of SU events to reach all sectors

SUMMARY: Currently there is already a large range of events planned for this academic year so I will look to gather thoughts and opinions from students (both students who will be at Hartpury the next year and what students who are leaving Hartpury wanted to see) about what kind of events/stalls they may want to see relating to their sector and plan relevant events in the calendar ready for the next academic year.

TIMELINE: Gather feedback by February 2026, plan events by May 2026

GOAL: Measure and grow engagement with the SU’s social media

SUMMARY: Aim to increase engagement on the SU’s social media channels (specifically Instagram and TikTok), looking to have more people following the SU’s accounts, commenting, liking and sharing posts. I aim for an engagement rate of 3-6% for Instagram and 4-18% on TikTok and will develop and engagement spreadsheet to monitor this. I will also support the creation a guide for how social media should be used within the SU, to enhance constancy across the team.

TIMELINE: Target for September 2025 met!! New targets for June 2026: Instagram 3800 followers. TikTok: 2000 followers.
