The Library

The university and college libraries have a range of physical books, online books and journals, dissertation examples (uni) and information to support you in your studies. You can also use the computers, loan laptops and print or scan documents here.

Academic misconduct meetings (university students only)

Receiving an assessment offence allegation can feel stressful and the SU are here to support you through this process. We would be happy to attend the meeting with you, as impartial support. Please let us know the date and time of your meeting and let the academic registry team know so they can invite us in.

The purpose of the meeting with the academic registry team is to investigate what has happened – they can show you what is flagging up their end and then they provide you with the opportunity to explain what you think has happened and demonstrate how you pieced your work together. They are very lovely and will explain everything very thoroughly for you.

This information is passed on to the academic registrar to make the decision (no decision will be made during the meeting). There are three possible outcomes from the meeting:

  1. No case to answer - the allegation will be dropped

  2. Poor scholarship - specific training will be recommended to support you in improving your academic writing

  3. The allegation is upholded - an assessment offence is found. There are a few different outcomes depending on the allegation, but for example this could result in the work being remarked or retaking the assessment

Please do remember that if you feel you would benefit from support, our Wellbeing team are available to contact, and we also have the Student Assistance Programme which offers 24/7 support – more information here.
